Welcome to Nebraska.

Erin O'Connor, Kearney, Nebraska State Advocate

Statement of Purpose

I am a Nebraska native who lived there for the first 27 years of my life. I recently relocated from Kearney, NE to complete an internship for my Recreation Management degree at the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. This is a photo of me during a recent trip to the Grand Canyon.

I hope to significantly raise awareness about the Leave No Trace program and all that the organization has to offer. Often, people do not consider Nebraska to be a state full of receational opportunities. There are, in fact, a multitude of scenic and inspiring places, such as The Cowboy Trail, Lake McConaughy, & Harlan County Reservoir, not to mention the abundance of rolling hills and meandering rivers throughout.

It is my hope to illustrate the opportunities for outdoor enjoyment in Nebraska, while also promoting environmental stewardship and the importance of practicing Leave No Trace principles, whether one resides in Nebraska or anywhere else in the world.
