Hello everyone! My name is Tess Belcher and I'm your Delaware State Advocate. I have been with Delaware State Parks since 2006, starting out as a naturalist and serving as a full time AmeriCorps member from 2006-2007. Prior to coming to Delaware State Parks, I was a K-5 teacher with the Brandywine School District.
I'm also a Red Cross certified instructor in Canoeing and Kayaking, Certified in Wilderness Leadership through Penn State University, a Leave No Trace Trainer and a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association of Interpretation and a HOFNOD (Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs) instructor.
Since 1996, I've also worked as a womens' field hockey and lacrosse official, and youth field hockey coach and cross country coach. I have a B.S. in Liberal Studies from Wilmington College. In my spare time, I like to do just about anything outside: running, biking, birdwatching, gardening, playing with her dogs or just spending time with the people I care about!
I have always enjoyed the outdoors and hope to help bring that same enjoyment and appreciation to the people of Delaware!
